Roberto Paoli, architect and designer, specialises in small-scale production design. His careful creative process combines consolidated technical expertise with an awareness of the performance of materials to innovate and give form to products with a extremely clean-cut lines. As well as products, his firm also works in interior design and architecture, developing design projects for homes, stores and showrooms, and also fittings and stands for trade shows. Roberto Paoli designs for international brands such as TVS, Ligne Roset, Fiamitalia, Artemide, Leucos and Nemo Cassina. At the same time as working with regular clients, in 2013 he founded his own brand, “Seminato Mercadante” and under this name he independently produces items with a high research, experimentation and innovation content. The brand takes its name from the place where his creative team works: a charming area on two floors, restored and converted inside an early 20th century building in Milan. He has won the Good Design Award di Chicago for four years running: 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2010 FreskoGel, a set of notebook feet in Technogel® for Tucano was added to the ADI Design Index as a candidate for the Compasso d’Oro Award. In 2013 the floor lamp, Tru by Nemo Cassina was added to the ADI Design Index to compete for the Compasso d’Oro Award. Roberto Paoli also creates and curates exhibitions, initiatives and design culture events.
